Parking and Travel to Galway
Driving to the University of Galway
Please note: you must register in advance, online, for a permit and instructions can be found below.
Previous visitors to our city know that traffic in Galway can be extremely busy at rush hour so we urge any delegates travelling by car to give themselves plenty of time.
Driving: Due to several road closures on the main campus we recommend you take the Upper Newcastle Entrance (Central Campus).
Upper Newcastle Entrance (Central Campus) View entrance on map > On this map it states ‘School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Galway’ but the building is called Áras Moyola which is where the conference is being held.
- Arriving in Galway on the main N6, follow signs for the N59 (Galway-Oughterard/Clifden), crossing the River Corrib at the Quincentennial Bridge.
- Go through the traffic lights and take exit 5 at the next roundabout (bringing you back towards the Quincentennial Bridge).
- Take a left turn at the traffic lights. The Upper Newcastle entrance is the first right.
If there is no parking close to the conference venue (Áras Moyola) there will be ample parking in the University Park and Ride carpark located at the North Campus.
Corrib Village Entrance (North Campus) View entrance on map >
The university bus service from the Park and Ride does not operate during the summer, but it is only a ten-minute walk to the conference venue, Áras Moyola.
- Take a left turn at the traffic lights and continue for 1km. You will see the Corrib Village entrance on your right.
- Should you wish to get to the Dangan Park & Ride Car Park, take an immediate left.
Please note: you must register in advance, online, for a parking permit which allows you to park in any white line space (not the blue 'pay and display spaces')
Travelling By Foot
Please note that there are several road closures across the main campus so rather than walking across campus we recommend delegates walk along the main footpath along Newcastle Road and enter the campus by the Upper Newcastle Entrance (Central Campus). Please contact us if you are unsure of the route to take.
Parking on the University Campus
Delegates that require parking must follow the below instructions to register your car on the parking portal. This will then allow you free parking on the 22nd of June in any white line space on the university campus. It does not cover the blue pay and display spaces. Anyone with a disability accessible parking badge does not need to apply for a parking permit as long as they have the badge on display and park in a disability space.
You are advised to complete the parking permit application asap rather than trying to set it up on the morning.
